The “father” of Minecraft has dramatically announced a sequel to the classic game Minecraft 2?.

Nevertheless, the Minecraft billionaire’s fortune represents a solid basis for further projects. “Notch” recently officially announced such a project via Twitter.

When is Minecraft 2 Coming?

Markus “Notch” Persson, the game’s original creator, recently hinted at a possible sequel. In a series of tweets, Notch asked fans if they wanted a classic roguelike game combined with a tile-based first-person castle crawler or a “spiritual sequel” to Minecraft. The overwhelming majority of respondents preferred a Minecraft 2-like experience. However, Notch explained that because Microsoft owns the intellectual property, he could not lawfully construct a direct successor.

Notch’s comments have garnered a lot of interest and controversy in the gaming community. Fans are interested to see what new features and improvements a sequel will bring. Will it maintain the blocky appearance of the original? Will there be new biomes, creatures, and crafting structures? These are only a few of the questions on everyone’s minds.

The 45-year-old plans to release a spiritual successor. “I basically announced Minecraft 2,” were his first words in the post. What Will Become of the Original Minecraft?

Very little is likely to change in the first part. “Notch” himself emphasizes in the statement his appreciation for the current work at the developer studio Mojang. Accordingly, it does not seem to be an attempt to shake up the phenomenon from Microsoft. It remains to be seen when, how, and in what form we will learn more about the project.
